Sligo Greenway Goes To EU Tender

The Sligo Greenway goes to EU tender for construction. Cllr Marie Casserly speaking on Midwest news recently, confirmed that the proposed Sligo Greenway, which will run along the closed rail route from Collooney to Belaghy on the Sligo/Mayo border at Charlestown, has gone to EU tender for construction.

Cllr Casserly explained to Midwest radio how Sligo Co Co are fully behind the project which is now being driven by TII. She said the Sligo Greenway was a part of the overall network of Greenways planned, and that it would connect with the SLNCR Greenway Project for Sligo and Leitrim which carries on as far as Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh. Marie said that the payback on investment in Greenways was very quick and that government department realise this and are keen to drive these projects on. As Marie said, “Its a No Brainer!”.
